Campbell-Williams advises that his uncle William 'Roger' Court
has been listed twice, once as William and again as Roger.
Although his name was William, he was generally known by the
nickname Roger. He was an FEO on the Sandringhams and Super
Constellations but he later retrained as a pilot, flying the
Super Constellation and Boeing 707.

Ottaway advises that his father, Captain Dick Ottaway, passed
away on September 6th 2019. His full name was Richard Kent
Ottaway and he flew with Qantas from October 1957 until retiring
in June 1978. He commenced operating 1049s and converted to
B707s in Jan 1960. He flew 707s until his retirement.

Smithwell advises that he did not fly the Constellation therefore
his name has been deleted from the Constellation list. He
confirms that he did fly the Electra. (His name is already
on that list). Ted Rees advised on 26SEP14; "I had the
pleasure of meeting Bert Smithwell at Busselton Aero Club
yesterday. Bert is flying solo around Australia in a Brumby
610, incredible at 90 years of age. Bert departed Busselton
this morning for Albany".

A Haylock, and to my uncle, Alan Macmillan 'Mack' Haylock
(listed as Matt, which is close but not quite right) John
was captain on the DC-4, and his conversion to the 749A was
a massive 2hrs 20 mins dual. The flight to London for the
captain (assuming some slips and crew changes) went Sydney-Darwin
on day 1, to Singapore on day 2, to Calcutta and Karachi on
day 3, to Cairo on day 4, to Rome on day 5, and London on
day 6 for a total of 41:15 day and 9hrs night."

"Colin George King DFM recorded his 40 years of flying
in his book, ‘Luck is no Accident'. He was awarded the DFM
for his action as a Sergeant Pilot with 77 Sqn RAAF in Korea.
After leaving the RAAF in May 1955, Col joined QANTAS and
was a First Officer on the L1049 Super Constellation until
October 1956 when he resigned from QANTAS and joined Malayan
Airways. Col took his final flight in 1986 when he resigned
from East-West Airlines. Col has two sons currently flying
with QANTAS, Geoffrey a B747 Captain and David, a B747 First
Officer."

Ron
Campbell advises that there were two Flight Engineers by the
name of Campbell on the Connies. There was R.C. Reg Campbell
and R.K. Ron Campbell. Indeed they both operated on the same
service on one occasion. This caused much confusion at the
time as indeed it has many years later! Thanks Ron for sorting
it out.

Bill
Robbie advises that he served on the Connies as a Radio Officer,
as a Navigator and as a First Officer. Bill was a Radio Officer
with the Department of Civil Aviation when he was loaned to
Qantas in 1944 to serve as a R/O on the Empire flying boats.
He was a R/O with BCPA about to commence training as a Second
Officer on the DC-6 at the time of the merger. He retired
from Qantas in 1979 as a B747 captain.

Mathers (nee Blackstone) advises that her father Alfred Barrie
Blackstone originally worked for BCPA, then PIA, then Qantas
until about 1975. He passed away on 24MAR04. Although he was
already on the list of Navigators, the spelling of his name
