The
so-called Iron Bird F-35 A35-000 at the South Australian Aviation
Museum on 31 January 2024. The exhibit was delivered to SAAM on 19 January.
This full size model was constructed by the Defence Science Technology
Group in Adelaide in 2014. Its purpose is to study electromagnetic effects
on the aicraft and to validate computer models developed for that purpose.
According to a DST podcast, the dimensions were sourced, not from Lockheed
Martin as might be expected, but from the gaming community on the internet!
