A89-276
on the western apron at Brisbane Eagle Farm on 7 November 1971. The
aircraft had departed Townsville for Amberley the previous day under
the command of Sqn Ldr R.R. Tayles to search for a fisherman lost in
a small boat off Currumbin. The aircraft searched an area from Brisbane
to just north of Evans Head without success. When landing at Brisbane
to refuel, the propeller feathering line on the port engine failed and
the aircraft was grounded. The following day, A89-277 under the command
of Flt Lt P.A. Ware, arrived from Townsville with spares and ground
crew to effect repairs. Sqn Ldr Tayles flew A89-277 back to Townsville
with Flt Lt Ware following in the repaired A89-276 later on 8 November.Picture:
